Japan conducted the “Study on the Development and Improvement Plan for Ship Navigation Safety Systems” in Indonesia from 2000 to 2002, and formulated a plan for the development of ship navigation safety systems in the country (hereinafter referred to as “previous M/P”). More than 10 years have already passed since then, and the socio-economic environment has changed drastically, including an increase in the volume of ship traffic due to the country’s economic growth, resulting in a gap between the then plan and the current situation. In addition, under the country’s maritime nation concept, the country is also considering the enhancement of maritime logistics, and in order to promote the study of the future development of a ship navigation safety system, the country requested a development plan survey-type technical cooperation project for the formulation of a new development plan by revising the previous M/P.
This cooperation will contribute to the navigational safety of ships navigating in Indonesian waters by confirming the current status of existing ship navigation safety system development and maintenance plans and various systems for navigational safety of ships in Indonesian waters, revising the plans to develop ship navigation safety systems in accordance with international standards, and developing feasibility studies.
