Seaside Terrace Chiba Kamogawa, which had its grand opening on March 18, is the perfect location to enjoy such glamping. The facility has four domed tents and two private villas, and this time the author, a camping novice, stayed in a domed tent with her children to experience glamping.
Outdoor and nature activities are popular due to the Corona disaster, and “glamping” has been gaining attention in recent years. Glamping” is a combination of the words “glamorous” and “camping,” and allows even novice campers to enjoy the outdoors without the need to set up a tent or prepare meals.
Elegant glamping in domed tents lined up along the Kamogawa River
Seaside Terrace Chiba Kamogawa is a facility located on the heights of Emiotaizaki facing the Pacific Ocean. The surrounding area is residential and farmland, and access by car is convenient. Once outside the villa, you can enjoy the magnificent sea view of Minami-Boso. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily the day we visited, so we could not see the sunset, but the contrast between the clear sky and the Pacific Ocean the next morning was soothing to see.
The dome-shaped tent in which we stayed is spacious and relaxing, with a diameter of 7m and a floor area of approximately 38m2. The ceiling height is a maximum of 3.4 meters, giving it a great sense of openness. The tent has a transparent part like a window that allows you to see the scenery outside. On sunny days, light pours in, and it is said to be very pleasant. It was raining when we stayed, but the sound of the rain hitting the tents was the background music that only camping can provide. The entrance can be securely closed off from the outside air with a door, so you can enjoy camping without any problems even if it rains heavily.
They have a capacity of 2 to 6 people and are equipped with air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Microwaves and refrigerators are also available, making your stay as comfortable as a typical hotel. You can also rent a charger, a hair iron, and cutlery for children.
The Seaside Terrace Chiba Kamogawa has private shower rooms and toilets in each tent, which are available 24 hours a day, making it very convenient. As an inexperienced camper, I found this to be very helpful, and it was also available to dispose of diapers for children. The shower rooms are equipped with basic amenities, and the receptionist also offers a selection of foreign brand toiletries for women.
In addition, a free parel sauna with self-launching sauna is open from early May. Reservations can be made at the time of check-in on the same day. Work up a sweat in the sauna while enjoying the view of the ocean.
Meals are served in the BBQ space next to the domed tents. Each tent is equipped with its own BBQ, so there is no need to worry about corona. We will be grilling our own meals on a special grill with ingredients from Chiba, etc. that have been prepared in advance. The food is already prepared, so all you have to do is grill. Glamping is the only way to enjoy camp cooking without the hassle.
The menu varies depending on the season. This time it was Kazusa Wagyu sirloin steak from Chiba Prefecture, grilled Boso sea bream, grilled turban shell and clams, ratatouille and seafood ajillo. A bucket and a small dessert were also included in the generous portion. Grilling fresh seafood on a gas grill is one of the best parts of BBQ. It is also recommended to buy some drinks at a local supermarket or roadside station within a 10-minute drive.
In addition, Seaside Terrace Chiba Kamogawa offers rental of skillets, rice bowl sets, Dutch ovens, and other equipment for use in BBQ. You can bring your own ingredients and enjoy making camp meals. There is also a lineup of popcorn and smoking utensils that you can try out.
In addition, as a food education experience, there are free activities such as making bread in a skillet, pumping, and sausage making, which can be enjoyed with children and their friends. This time, I tried my hand at sausage making. I tasted homemade sausages made by kneading ground meat with my children.
The next day was sunny, so I enjoyed orange juice and a roast beef sandwich on a bagel for breakfast while feeling the clear morning air. A breakfast enjoyed while listening to the sound of waves and birds at the table is a superb experience.
