East Japan Railway (East Japan Railway Company) Chiba Branch, Kominato Railway, and Isumi Railway will hold a tour on July 23 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the railroad’s opening and spend the night inside a chartered Kominato Railway Kiha 40 train and on the platform of Kominato Railway’s Goi Station.
Prior to this, the company will begin accepting reservations at 2:00 p.m. on June 20. Reservations will be accepted on the “Japan Travel, Railroad Travel” website of JR East View Tourism & Sales. The capacity is for 26 passengers and the fare is 29,800 yen.
In this tour, you will stay in a Kiha 40 class train stopped at Goi Station of Kominato Railway until morning. While enjoying the sound of the train’s engine, passengers can take pictures and record the train’s movements at night. In the car, one person is guaranteed one long seat/one box seat. From Joso-Nakano Station to Goi Station, the Kiha40 will be chartered for the trip.
On the day of the event, an original headmark will be displayed just for the occasion. In addition, Sotobo Sashimi Gozen from Hotel Kujukuri Villa Sotobo will be served for dinner, and Safety First Curry from Kominato and Waiting Room will be served for breakfast. In addition, an original pillow made from a Kiha 40 moket and original Isumi Railway goods will be given away.
