On June 1, 80 JOCV candidates training at the Nihonmatsu Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers Training Center as part of JICA’s first contingent for FY2022 received Their Imperial Highnesses Prince and Princess Akishino at the JICA Ichigaya Building.
Each candidate was able to meet with Their Imperial Highnesses, and although nervous, they expressed their aspirations for their activities in the destination country with smiles on their faces and received words of encouragement from Their Imperial Highnesses.
The candidates who were interviewed this time will complete their training on June 9, and will be dispatched to 14 developing countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa in turn from July, where they will live with local people and work at the grassroots level to contribute to solving problems in various fields such as education, health, and medicine.
Pre-deployment training for JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteers is conducted for approximately two months at JOCV training centers in Nihonmatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture and Komagane City, Nagano Prefecture, to enhance the knowledge and abilities of preparedness, foreign languages, and cross-cultural understanding necessary for healthy, safe, and meaningful activities and life.
