Ota Ward and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government have agreed to share the cost of the New Airport Line (Yaguchiwatashi to Keikyu Kamata) development project.
The new airport line will improve the convenience of east-west transportation in the district by connecting the approximately 800m distance between JR/Tokyu Kamata Station and Keikyu Kamata Station by rail. In addition, the new line will enable direct interconnections with the Tokyu Toyoko Line, Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line, and other lines, connecting Haneda Airport with the cities of Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro, and the northwestern part of the Tokyo metropolitan area, including Wako, Tokorozawa, and Kawagoe, creating a wide-area railroad network.
Under the agreement, it was decided that Ota Ward will invest in the third sector, which will be the main construction entity, and that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Ota Ward will share 30% and 70%, respectively, of the local government’s share of the urban rail convenience improvement project.
