On June 18, Moomin Story will release “PACOON,” an edible spoon-shaped cookie from “Ethical Choice,” an original brand of Metsa that takes the global environment into consideration. The cookies will be sold for 100 yen each at the “PACOON” food stand in Moomin Valley Park (327-6 Miyazawa, Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture).
Metsä Village, where visitors can experience the Scandinavian lifestyle, and Moomin Valley Park, which extends within the village, are implementing SDGs initiatives to reduce single-use plastics and raise environmental awareness.
The product is made of only domestic wheat, sugar, eggs, and domestic vegetable powder, and can be eaten with a spoon like a cookie. The product is said to encourage children to develop the habit of chewing, a healthy oral environment, and an eco-consciousness that will “reduce waste.
The beet used for seasoning is a vegetable commonly eaten in Scandinavia, the hometown of the Moomin author. It is rich in nutrients such as potassium, betacyanin, dietary fiber, and oligosaccharides. The package design was inspired by the slender handle of the spoon, which is reminiscent of the mysterious character “Nyoronjoro.
Piccal Oca also sells a “Soy Meatball Waffle” (600 yen) with this PACOON. Healthy Soy Meatballs made with only plant-based ingredients and tartar sauce are served in a waffle cone, creating a photogenic dish that looks just like ice cream.
