The cumulative number of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Senegal is 41,725 (1,150 deaths) (as of June 9, 2021, according to the Senegalese Ministry of Health). In Senegal, vaccination is positioned as the top priority in the fight against novel coronaviruses, and vaccination has been initiated. While it is necessary to establish a system to ensure that vaccines are transported and stored appropriately to all parts of the country and that they are administered effectively and safely, there is a shortage of cold chain* equipment, vaccine storage facilities, testing and diagnostic equipment, and epidemiological survey equipment, and the need to meet these requirements is urgent.
This cooperation will help establish an effective and safe vaccination system in Senegal by providing the necessary equipment for vaccination, thereby contributing to the improvement of the vaccination coverage and early control of new coronavirus infections in the country.
