JAL will begin collaborating with local governments to promote anime tourism. As the first step in this effort, the travel product “JALPAK x Hideaki Anno Exhibition x Machi-ju EVANGELION” featuring Yamaguchi Prefecture is on sale until September 3. Departure period is from July 8 to September 4.
With the cooperation of the Central Yamaguchi Cooperative City Region (Yamaguchi City/Ube City/Hagi City/Hofu City/Mine City/Sanyo Onoda City/Tswano Town, Shimane Prefecture), this tour will take visitors around Ube City, one of the model locations for the “Shin Evangelion Theater Version” movie, and other areas in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Participants will also be able to enjoy the “Machi-ju EVANGELION Vol. 2” project in Ube City and the “Hideaki Anno Exhibition” at the Yamaguchi Prefectural Museum of Art, in addition to the tour’s limited original goods.
The company’s “anime tourism” program is a trip to areas that have been the setting of anime or spots associated with anime as sacred places. In the future, the company plans to collaborate with local communities to plan and implement events that utilize tourism resources to further immerse visitors in the world of anime, and promote regional revitalization by creating a new flow of people.
