a2network, a mobile service provider, began offering its mobile Wi-Fi service “SkyBerry” as a JAL (Japan Airlines) “JAL Mileage Bank” redemption benefit on June 27.
SkyBerry is a borderless Wi-Fi service that allows users to use the same rate for data communication in Japan and overseas without being aware of national borders. The system is based on the purchase of a terminal, so there is no need to rent one every time you go abroad.
In the special offer, a specially designed handset with JAL logo printed in silver will be provided when redeemed with accumulated miles. There are two types of gigs available: 7 gigs (worth 31,000 yen/maximum 2 months, *12-month contract required after 2 months) for 13,000 mile redemption, and 10 gigs (worth 28,000 yen/valid for 40 days) for 20,000 mile redemption. Applications are available on JAL’s Web page.
JAL Mileage Bank members can also earn miles according to their monthly SkyBerry bill. If you register for JAL Card Shopping Mileage Premium, you can earn up to 2 miles per 100 yen.
