Supporting the Promotion of the Use of AI Technology through Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration in Jordan

Posted on 2022-07-052022-07-05 by News Admin

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions (R/D) with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Government on July 4 in Amman for the technical cooperation project “AI Ecosystem Promotion Project.

Due to the political situation in neighboring countries and the impact of the new coronavirus, Jordan’s economic growth rate remains sluggish and unemployment is high. Especially in Jordan, where more than 60% of the population is under 30 years of age, the expansion of support to improve employment for young people is an urgent issue for the country’s peace and stability as well as for independent and sustainable economic growth.

In light of this situation, this project aims to establish a platform for promoting the use of AI technology throughout Jordan through collaboration among industry, government, and academia, thereby contributing to the development of an ecosystem* for promoting the use of emerging technologies (especially AI) and activating the activities of entrepreneurs who utilize emerging technologies. By stimulating the activities of entrepreneurs who utilize emerging technologies, the project will contribute to Goal 9 of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) (i.e., to create a foundation for industrial and technological innovation) by expanding employment opportunities through the promotion of the ICT industry.

(Note) An ecosystem is a model that creates a healthy profit cycle through competition and co-creation on a global scale by leveraging mutual technologies, capital, sales channels, etc., in partnership with a wide variety of businesses that transcend industry boundaries. This project aims to build a social network that contributes to the development of products, services, and businesses through AI.

The details of the project are as follows
