Tokyo Summerland (600 Kamishirotsugu, Akiruno, Tokyo) announced that two attractions in its outdoor amusement park, Tornado and Wave Swinger, will cease operations on September 25, and that it will begin construction on a new pool to open in summer 2024.
The current plan calls for the removal of two models and the construction of a new pool that will stimulate a sense of adventure not found in the existing facility, and further expansion of the outdoor pools, including the “Great Journey,” one of the largest flowing pools in Japan. In addition, the surrounding environment will be improved, and the area will be developed as an area where all generations can enjoy themselves surrounded by nature.
In conjunction with the closure of Tornado and Wave Swinger, both longtime favorites since 1986, the company plans to launch a “Thank You Campaign” to express its gratitude.
