Chichibu Railway will operate the SL Kero Koro Express, a one-day collaboration locomotive with Kowa’s mascot character, Kero Chan Koro, on August 11, 2022. On the same day, a free-of-charge “Kero Koro Summer Holiday Event” (11:30-14:30) will be held at the plaza in front of Nagatoro Station. Tickets distributed inside the SL train will be required to participate in the event.
With Kowa’s cooperation, the Japan Association of Private Railways intends to promote awareness and use of local private railways, which are facing a difficult business environment due to the declining birthrate and the progress of motorization, by enlivening railroad events with the mascot character (Kero-chan Koro-chan) and distributing jointly developed supporting goods.
The SL KEROKORO EXPRESS will operate an SL with a special head mark, and passengers will receive a special commemorative boarding pass, a KEROKORO finger puppet, and Korgenkowa disinfectant spray. At the event in front of Nagatoro Station, visitors can enjoy yo-yo fishing, ring tossing, and a bingo tournament.
