Park24 conducted an awareness survey on on-street parking among Times Club members as part of its educational campaign to prevent on-street parking in advance of “Parking (Park) Day” on August 9.
Although the number of parking citations has been decreasing each year, in 2020 it will exceed 1 million, resulting in traffic accidents, congestion, and obstruction of emergency vehicles caused by parked vehicles.
Regarding the experience of feeling unsafe due to on-street parking, 89% of the respondents answered “Yes”. Since 2013, when the survey began, the percentage has been approximately 90% each time, and the trend has not changed.
Regarding the experience of on-street parking within the past two years, 23% of the respondents answered that they have. The percentage of respondents who have experienced on-street parking has been decreasing since 2013, when the survey began, and has been below 30% since 2021.
The most common reason for parking on the street, at 58%, was that it was not enough time to park, followed by “no parking nearby” at 25% and “little traffic” at 6%.
In response to these results, the company will continue to expand Times Parking, a pay-by-the-hour parking facility, and Times B, a reservation-based parking facility, to create an environment where customers can park when they want to.
