JR Kyushu will operate the “Romancing Saga Train” from August 23 as part of Saga Prefecture’s “Romancing Saga 2022” project.
All diesel trains on the Karatsu Line, Chikuhi Line, and the Nagasaki Main Line (Saga to Kubota), which the trains connect to, will have this design. All 16 cars (nine Kiha 47s and seven Kiha 125s) are scheduled to be in service on October 8. All 16 cars will have different designs.
In conjunction with this, automatic announcements at Saga and Karatsu stations when trains enter the stations will be changed to music from the “Saga” series. In addition, at Karatsu Line stations and at Saga, Nabeshima, Barungana, and Imari stations, original station name markers with dotted illustrations will be installed.
In addition, the “Romancing Saga Train Round Trip Ticket” will be on sale from October 8 to January 30, 2023 as a special ticket in conjunction with this project. The ticket allows unlimited rides for two days on the Karatsu Line (Kubota – Nishi-Karatsu), Chikuhi Line (Yamamoto – Imari), and Nagasaki Main Line (Saga – Kubota) where “Romancing Saga Train” runs. However, from the start of sales until October 31, the “Start Discount” will be offered at the same price of 1,250 yen for adults and 500 yen for children, while maintaining the same validity.
