JR East Cross Station will release “150th Anniversary Commemorative Admission Ticket,” “150th Anniversary Original Limited Edition Wristwatch,” and “150th Anniversary Original Limited Edition Fountain Pen” to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the railroad’s opening.
The “150th Anniversary Commemorative Ticket” includes six D-type tickets, two for each of the Shimbashi, Yokohama, and Sakuragicho stations, two types of commemorative mounts (for Shimbashi and Yokohama stations), and two types of commemorative plates (for Shimbashi and Yokohama stations) printed with brocade pictures related to the railroad in the Meiji era. The concept was to allow visitors to feel the history of railroads. The admission ticket uses a photograph of the early days of the railroad. The design of the commemorative mounts and plates are based on colorful nishikie (woodblock prints) that vividly depict scenes from the early days of the railroad. Priced at 3,200 yen each, the commemorative tickets will be available in limited quantities online at the “GENERAL STORE RAILYARD” store in the JRE MALL from September 5, starting at 8:00 a.m.
The “Original Limited Edition Wristwatch Commemorating 150 Years of the Railway” was produced jointly with Seiko Watch to imitate a railroad watch carried by railroad workers. The coloring is modeled after the No. 1 locomotive (150 class) that was running at the time of the railroad’s opening, and the dial is inspired by the first Japanese-made railroad watches. It also comes with an original commemorative box and an original card. The price is 55,000 yen. The online sales will begin at 8:00 a.m. on October 8 at the “GENERAL STORE RAILYARD” store in the “JRE MALL,” and in-store sales will begin at 9:00 a.m. on the same day at GENERAL STORE RAILYARD (Omiya Station) and at 8:00 a.m. on the same day at TOKYO!
