Gifu Prefecture will hold the “Dasekigahara Festival 2022” for three days from October 8 to 10.
Gifu Prefecture is the site of the great historical battle where Tokugawa Ieyasu ended the Warring States period with the Battle of Sekigahara. The event aims to enhance the brand image of warring states and military commander tourism, and the area around the Sekigahara ancient battlefield, the venue of the event, usually attracts about 20,000 visitors from inside and outside of the prefecture every year.
After two cancellations due to the new Corona, this year’s event was held for the first time in three years. In addition, as this is the first event since the opening of the “Gifu Sekigahara Kosenjo Kinenkan” (894-55, Sekigahara, Fuwa-gun, Gifu Prefecture) in October 2020, “Historical Picture Scroll Projection Mapping” will be performed in the front yard plaza of the Kinenkan.
During the festival, there will also be a variety of other events, including talk shows featuring actors and TV personalities who are fans of the Warring States period, a quiz showdown on the Warring States period, a performance battle by the Omotenashi Busyoutai, who have come from all over Japan, and a stage featuring local characters from the East and the West, all of which will put the entire Kosenjo in the mood of the Warring States period.
The venue will also feature a sightseeing product exhibition with more than 30 booths, a bread marché where visitors can enjoy the flavors of famous stores from the East and the West, kitchen cars, and other local gourmet foods related to the Warring States period.
