TripAdvisor has released its “Fall 2022 Travel Trends” report based on a survey of travelers’ attitudes and site usage data from six countries, including Japan.
According to the attitude survey, 51% of Japanese travelers indicated that they are planning to travel in the fall of 2022 (September 1-November 30 period), a significant increase compared to 33% for the same period in FY2021. In addition, 40% of Japanese travelers said they would increase their spending for travel this fall compared to their spending for travel in the same period in FY2021, and a larger percentage of Japanese travelers said that price hikes would not affect their travel plans compared to other countries, indicating that they are willing to spend more on travel. In addition, only 53% of Japanese travelers said they have no reservations about traveling this fall, compared to 90% in the other five countries, reflecting the cautious attitude of Japanese travelers toward new coronavirus infections.
