The Japan Tourism Agency has revised its “Guidelines for Acceptance of Foreign Tourists” in line with the government’s announcement on August 31 that it will begin accepting unaccompanied package tours.
These guidelines are designed to provide guidelines for matters that should be noted in order to prevent the spread of infection when implementing escorted package tours that began to be accepted on June 10, 2022, as well as measures to be taken by tourism-related personnel in the event of an emergency, including the outbreak of a positive case.
The guidelines have been revised to reflect the fact that package tours without tour guides will be accepted on September 7. The guidelines call for travel agencies, travel service providers, tour guides, and accommodation businesses to take thorough measures against infection at every stage of the tour process, from creation to completion.
