Cirium, a UK-based aviation data analysis company, has released data on domestic and international flights to and from Japan during the Bon vacation period (August 6-18).

According to the company’s survey, the number of actual domestic flights during the period was 30,908, up from 30,828 in the same period in 2019 before the Corona disaster. The number of seats was down 43,590. The most flights were operated on the Haneda-Chitose route, followed by the Haneda-Fukuoka route, Haneda-Okinawa route, Haneda-Itami route, and Narita-Chitose route.

For international routes, the actual number of flights operated during the period was 2,380, only 21% of the total number of flights in 2019. The most flights were operated on the Narita-Incheon route, followed by the Narita-Bangkok route, Narita-Singapore route, Narita-Los Angeles route, and Kansai International Airport-Incheon route.

According to the company, the number of seats offered on domestic routes from October to March 2023 will continue to show a recovery trend and is expected to increase 135% year-on-year, exceeding the FY2019 level. The number of seats offered on international routes is also expected to increase 4.6 times year-on-year, but will only recover to 60% of the fiscal 2019 level.
