Background and Objectives

In order to introduce the life and business environment in Rwanda, Africa to a wider audience, a video introductory to Rwandan business was posted on JICA’s YouTube JICA YouTube channel for a limited time (July 11-September 30, 2022).

This online seminar was positioned as an application of this seminar, and was conducted with the aim of stimulating participants’ interest in doing business in Rwanda and contributing to the development of a concrete business image.

Contents

In the panel discussion, which was the main part of this online seminar, we invited panelists from five Japanese and Japanese companies doing business in Rwanda to talk about the attractiveness of Rwanda, difficulties in doing business in Rwanda, and other topics that only companies actually doing business in Rwanda could discuss from the frontline.

After discussing how they came to start business in Rwanda, a small landlocked country that does not necessarily have a favorable market environment, the reasons why they chose Rwanda as their base, the advantages of working with local partners and third country companies in Africa, and the success and failure factors of companies that are successful in Africa and those that are not, the panelists then He then answered questions from the audience.

Eighty-one people attended the seminar, and survey respondents commented that it was very meaningful to hear firsthand accounts from people who are actually running businesses.

This seminar will be posted on the JICA YouTube channel.
