Approximately 600 express buses operate per day. The first phase area of Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu consists of a ticket office and information counter on the first basement floor and a bus stop on the second basement floor. It is accessible from the entrance on the first floor of Tokyo Midtown Yaesu and from Yaetica (Yaesu underground shopping mall) on the basement floor of the Yaesu Exit side. The escalator in front of the information counter takes you down to the second basement level, where you will find a bus stop with a total of nine berths (six for boarding and three for waiting). When the new terminal opens, approximately 550 of the approximately 1,200 daily express buses that used to depart and arrive on the streets around Tokyo Station will be transferred to the new terminal. In addition, approximately 600 buses, including 50 new buses, will use the new facility. The breakdown of express buses departing from and arriving at this facility is as follows: approximately 30 buses to Tohoku, 380 to Kanto (Chiba), 20 to Kanto (other areas), 20 to Hokuriku/Koshinetsu, 50 to Tokai, 80 to Kansai, and 20 to Chugoku/Shikoku/Kyushu.

Bus terminal designed from the user’s perspective The waiting area for express buses and the boarding area are separated by glass and automatic doors that open only when boarding or alighting. This ensures a properly air-conditioned environment and greatly improves safety. There are six berths (11 to 16), each with a digital signage system that provides information on arrival and departure times and boarding locations at a glance. In addition, a system has been introduced that notifies passengers who register their flight reservations on the official website on their smartphones when the departure time of their registered flight is approaching. The waiting area is equipped with benches, vending machines, toilets, and a Family Mart, making it considerably more convenient and comfortable than conventional roadside boarding areas.
