Tourism Expo Japan 2022, one of the world’s largest travel events, is being held at Tokyo Big Sight (Ariake, Koto-ku, Tokyo) for four days from September 22 to 25.

In addition to comprehensive tourist information, the Okinawa Prefecture booth introduces the rich individuality of each region and island. On the wall is a timeline listing the history of tourism in Okinawa since 1954. In addition, a quiz stamp rally is available for visitors to learn about Okinawa. Visitors who take the quiz and answer a questionnaire and go to the Gacha Gacha corner can win one of eight original can badges limited to Tourism Expo Japan 2022 or other secret items.

At the booths for each region/island and experience, visitors could learn about each of the 15 outlying islands around the main island of Okinawa, in addition to tourist information on the area where NHK’s TV series “Chimudo-don” was set to air in the first half of FY2022. Among them, remote islands such as Aguni Island had a strong traditional culture, as evidenced by the movie “Washing Bones,” which was released on the theme of its burial customs. They distributed candy made of salt from sea water and Kagoshima matcha (powdered green tea), which they said is distributed only on the islands. The booth of the outlying islands also displayed “ilabu (sea serpent),” a specialty of Kutaka Island.
