Tourism Expo Japan 2022, one of the world’s largest travel events, was held at Tokyo Big Sight (Ariake, Koto-ku, Tokyo) for four days from September 22 under the joint sponsorship of JTA (Japan National Tourism Organization), JNTO (Japan National Tourism Organization), and JATA (Japan Association of Travel Agents). The closing ceremony was held on the stage at the venue.
Speaking on behalf of the organizers, Hiroyuki Takahashi, Chairman of the Tourism Expo Japan 2022 Organizing Committee, said, “Tourism Expo Japan was held in Tokyo for the first time in four years and was a great success, with participation from 47 prefectures and 78 countries and regions around the world.
Through this session, I was able to reaffirm the power of tourism. The flexibility to overcome any adversity, the power to connect people to people or countries to countries, the power to enrich people’s hearts and minds, and the power to open up a new future – this is the one and only power of tourism.
The tourism industry had almost lost its confidence and pride during the years of the Corona disaster, and I believe we have regained it. We were also greatly cheered and delighted by the announcement of the decision on the national travel quota and the relaxation of waterfront measures during the meeting.
I would like to take this opportunity to turn the industry around, regain what we have lost, and break new ground in tourism that matches the new era with you,” he said, concluding the closing ceremony.
Tourism Expo Japan 2023 will be held at INTEX Osaka (Suminoe-ku, Osaka City) from October 26 to 29.
