Toyama Prefecture names new tourist route “Kurobe-Unazuki Canyon Route,” to be open to the public in FY2024.

Toyama Prefecture has decided to name the new tourist route (commonly known as the Kurobe Route), which will be open to the public starting in 2024, the “Kurobe-Unazuki Canyon Route.

The “Kurobe-Unazuki Canyon Route” is an approximately 18-km route connecting “Zelkova-daira,” the last stop of the Kurobe Gorge Railway, and the Kurobe Dam. Visitors can see various power supply facilities built underground, such as high-heat tunnels, while riding on heavy equipment such as construction trolleys, incline, and shaft elevators that have been utilized since the early Showa period in the construction of the power plant.

Under an agreement signed by Toyama Prefecture and Kansai Electric Power Co.
