The best time to view autumn foliage is earlier when autumn (September to November) temperatures are low and later when temperatures are high, but September temperatures were higher than normal nationwide. Temperatures in September were higher than normal nationwide, and the season for viewing autumn foliage is expected to continue to be warmer than normal, with cooler mornings and evenings expected to be delayed, resulting in the season for viewing autumn foliage being on par with or later than normal nationwide this year.
The Japan Weather Association’s weather forecast media “tenki.jp” provides information on autumn foliage at 764 locations famous for their autumn foliage. Starting this year, a “Calendar of Autumn Foliage Viewing Periods,” which combines forecasts of the best time to view autumn foliage and two-week weather forecasts, is also available.
