Tomei: Continuous day/night lane shift restrictions, continuous day/night lane separation restrictions, etc. due to renewal work on the Kakegawa IC to Fukuroi IC.

Posted on 2022-09-29 by Editor in Chief

NEXCO Central Japan, Tokyo Branch will implement continuous day/night lane shift restrictions and continuous day/night lane separation restrictions between the Kakegawa IC and Fukuroi IC on the Tomei Expressway as part of the Expressway Renewal Project. The period is from October 15 to late August 2025.

The conventional method of replacing the bridge slab in its entire cross-section will be changed to a method of replacing the slab by dividing the cross-section in half to ensure that the current four lanes of traffic can be maintained during construction. Although the construction period will be longer due to the divided construction, traffic congestion can be minimized.

The form of traffic operation will be divided into six major construction steps: one continuous day/night lane shift restriction on the upper and lower lanes will be implemented from October 15 to 28, and as STEP 1, continuous day/night lane shift restriction (lane width reduction) will be implemented from October 29 to around late February 2023 with four lanes on the upper and lower lanes.
