The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) has outlined its nationwide travel support in Tokyo, scheduled to begin on October 20.
The subsidy is available for travel between October 20 and December 20 (including check-out on December 21). Those eligible for the subsidy are domestic residents who have been vaccinated against the new coronavirus at least three times or whose test results are negative. The trip must be made with Tokyo as the place of stay and destination.
The subsidy rate is 40%. The maximum subsidy amount is 8,000 yen for “overnight travel products with transportation” using public transportation (train, bus, cab, airline, ferry, etc.) and 5,000 yen for “overnight travel products,” “day trip products,” and “overnight products” not including transportation. Coupons that can be used to purchase souvenirs and other items are worth 3,000 yen on weekdays and 1,000 yen on holidays.
Details will be announced on October 7, and applications for lodging businesses and coupon merchants will also be accepted on October 7.
Note that the above explanation is only for subsidies for travel to Tokyo; assistance for Tokyo residents traveling to other prefectures will begin on October 11.
