National travel support will begin on October 11.
With some exceptions, such as Tokyo, the National Travel Assistance subsidizes 40% of the price (up to 8,000 yen per night for travel products with transportation/up to 5,000 yen for other travel products) for travel between October 11 and December 20 (including check-out on December 21), and provides coupons (weekdays The coupons are worth 3,000 yen on weekdays and 1,000 yen on holidays.
However, there is some variation in the conditions for application due to the fact that each municipality handles the handling. One of these is the number of times the new coronavirus vaccine must be administered. Most local governments require “three vaccinations or negative proof by PCR or other tests,” but some local governments require “two vaccinations for prefectural residents. This “prefectural residents” refers to cases where prefectural residents are traveling within their own prefecture, and when they go to other prefectures, the rules of that area naturally apply.
The rules are summarized in the table below. Municipalities whose vaccination rules could not be confirmed on their websites at the time of writing are marked with “-“. For other details, please click on the links to see the national travel support pages of each municipality.
