Hoshino Resort’s “Kai” brand of onsen ryokan will open “Kai Izumo” on November 16. On the same day, “Kai Tamatsukuri” will be reopened.
At “Kai Izumo,” guests can enjoy cultural experiences related to Izumo mythology, and at “Kai Tamatsukuri,” they can enjoy Japan’s oldest hot spring for beautiful skin, tea ceremony, and Japanese sake culture. Both have local guest rooms where guests can experience the local culture, and both design the culture of Shimane Prefecture by taking advantage of their respective locations, cultures, and crafts. The local room at “Kai Izumo” expresses the changing scenery from sunset to dawn, while the local room at “Kai Tamatsukuri” incorporates a motif of a katama (a gemstone) and a yamatama (an anemone), one of the three sacred treasures of the prefecture.
Dinner will be served in a semi-private dining room where guests can enjoy the culinary culture of Shimane and Izumo, and special kaiseki meals will be available in early November, when the Matsuba crab fishing season begins. The main dish will be served at the two facilities using different cooking methods.
