JAL has applied to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for a revision of the applicable amount of the “fuel surcharge” (fuel surcharge). The surcharge will be applied from December 1 to January 31, 2023.
The two-month average Singapore kerosene market price for August-September was $128.12 per barrel. Multiplying this by the average exchange rate of 139 yen per dollar for the same period, the yen equivalent of the Singapore kerosene market price is 17,810 yen, making the fuel surcharge applicable to tickets issued from December to January 2023 based on 17,000 yen.
As a result, the price in Korea and Far East Russia will go from 7,700 yen to 5,900 yen; in East Asia (excluding Korea and Mongolia), from 12,900 yen to 11,400 yen; in Guam, Palau, the Philippines, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Russia, from 22,900 yen to 17,800 yen; in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and In Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Russia, the price will change from 29,800 yen to 24,700 yen; in Hawaii, Indonesia, India and Sri Lanka, from 37,400 yen to 30,500 yen; and in North America, Europe, Middle East and Oceania, from 57,299 yen to 47,000 yen.
