Willows Hotel Osaka Shin-Imamiya (2-1-24, Ebisu-Higashi, Naniwa-ku, Osaka City), operated by Nihon Unisto, will hold a lunar eclipse observation event and a hands-on experience with the YAOKI private lunar robot in conjunction with the total lunar eclipse on November 8.
A total lunar eclipse will be observable throughout Japan for the first time in 3 years and 10 months. On the day of the event, the partial eclipse can be viewed from the beginning to the end at Willows SKYDECK, the hotel’s rooftop observatory, located a six-minute walk from Shin-Imamiya Station on the JR Loop Line.
The event will also feature a hands-on experience of piloting YAOKI, the world’s first robot scheduled for private lunar exploration, and a talk event by Shinichiro Nakajima, president of Daimon, the company that developed YAOKI.
Participation is free of charge, and applications will be accepted until October 30 via a dedicated application form. Those who will not be staying at the hotel on the day of the event may also participate, but in the event that the number of applicants exceeds capacity, those staying at the hotel will be given priority.
