Introduced here is the Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, located along Kalakaua Avenue, which is convenient for shopping and right in front of Waikiki Beach. This resort hotel is a major renovation of the Pacific Beach Hotel and had its grand opening in 2018 at a total cost of 12.5 billion yen. Located on the east side of Waikiki, Diamond Head is nearby and the views from the rooms are outstanding. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Hawaii, so if you’re wondering where to stay, this is a must-see! If you are wondering where to stay in Hawaii for a long time, this is a must-see.
The Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach was built on a piece of land owned by Queen Liliuokalani, the last king of the Kingdom of Hawaii. The hotel is named after the queen’s beachside cottage, “alohilani. In Hawaiian, alohilani means “heavenly brightness. You can feel the “alohilani” atmosphere from the guest rooms, pool, and club lounge.
In the atrium space on the first floor of the hotel is the Oceanarium, a huge aquarium with colorful marine life. Surrounding it is a public space called “O BAR. In the morning, visitors can enjoy special coffee provided by KAI COFFEE while eating pastries, and in the evening they can enjoy original cocktails and other drinks. At the Oceanarium, divers feed the fish twice a day. Free lei making and hula lessons are also available at “O BAR”.
Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach has two towers, Seascape and Beachside, with a total of 839 rooms, including 8 suites. Let’s start with the “Partial Ocean View” in the Seascape tower.
The room is decorated in a simple and sophisticated manner, with a tone-controlled modern look. The wood-grained interior around the bed head gives the room a warm feeling. The windows look out onto the Waikiki cityscape, while the lanai (veranda) offers a view of Waikiki Beach below.
The “Diamond Head Ocean View” rooms on the east side of the same Seascape Tower are in the 20th floor or higher category, and the panoramic view of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head is breathtaking. The shot from the emerald green Pacific Ocean to Diamond Head with the camera swiveled to the left is so spectacular that it will make you dizzy. Take a look!
On the other hand, all rooms in the Beachside Tower have toilets with bidet toilets, and most rooms with two queen beds have handheld showers and bathtubs (some rooms are not provided). The room interiors and amenities are the same, but the Beachside rooms seem to be more popular with the Japanese?
Last but not least is the “Premier Ocean Front” in the Beachside Tower. The view from your private lanai will make you feel as if you have Waikiki Beach all to yourself. The Premier Ocean Front rooms are equipped with bathrobes and slippers, just like the suites. Imagine yourself looking out over the emerald green ocean from your private lanai in a white bathrobe, and feel like you’ve just flown to Hawaii!
Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach boasts a beautiful infinity pool. It was voted one of the “Top 10 Most Instagrammable Pools in America” by a national fashion magazine, and many people post their pictures taken here on Instagram.
The Swell Pool & Bar, located on the pool deck, offers a health-conscious menu that includes Hawaiian cuisine as well as gluten-free and vegan dishes. When the sun goes down, the fire pit is lit and the walls of the building are used for projection mapping and live entertainment linked to music.
The Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach has a wide variety of restaurants. Morimoto Asia Waikiki, supervised by Iron Chef Shoji Morimoto, is the main dining room with a spacious indoor area, a bungalow-style bar counter, a terrace with a view of the ocean, and even private rooms. In addition to dumplings, wontons, assorted dim sum, and other appetizing dishes such as “Chef Morimoto’s Special Roast Duck,” there are also a variety of sake and shochu available. Sake and shochu are also available.
Along the street on the first floor of the hotel is Momosan, a casual restaurant also under the supervision of Chef Morimoto. The signboard with the restaurant’s name reads “ramen”! The menu on the official Web site offers a variety of dishes such as tongkotsu, tokyo chicken, and spicy vegan miso. After a day at Waikiki Beach, I’m sure I’ll be heading straight here. In addition to ramen, the restaurant also serves small izakaya-style dishes such as yakitori and karaage, as well as Hawaiian-style dishes such as garlic shrimp.
