Announcing “Rakuten Group Household Finance Support Techniques 2022,” a smart way to use Rakuten Travel.

On October 25, Rakuten Group announced “Rakuten Group Household Finance Support Techniques 2022,” proposing smart ways to use Rakuten Travel and other services.

The company offers more than 70 services, including Rakuten Ichiba and Rakuten Travel, forming a unique ecosystem (economic sphere) based on Rakuten Points, and the more services a customer uses, the higher the point redemption rate.

Various items have seen price hikes this fall, and according to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in July, households are spending an average of 14,673 yen more per month. The survey revealed that consumers are using coupons and buying in bulk when prices are low in order to overcome these price hikes.

Therefore, the company recommends that customers take advantage of Rakuten Super SALE and Shopping Marathon events at Rakuten Ichiba, as well as Rakuten Rebates, a point-back service, to earn points.

Rakuten Travel reports that at the Corona Disaster, use of the “Eco Plan,” which reduces lodging costs by omitting cleaning for consecutive nights, has doubled in 2019, and “Short Stay,” which offers a more economical rate by reducing the length of stay, has increased 1.7 times.

Ms. Natsuki Awai, EC Public Relations Section, Commerce Company, said, “We see a trend that people are working backward from their travel style and wisely choosing plans that include only what they need,” and suggested that they make good use of those plans.

In addition, there are plans that offer more than 10 times Rakuten Points redemption. “When traveling with multiple people, the cost of the trip will be a little higher due to the number of people booking, but if the plan has a high point award rate, you can efficiently earn points. For example, if the cost of the trip is 30,000 yen and 10% points are given, you can earn Rakuten points worth 3,000 yen. For example, if the cost of a trip is 30,000 yen and 10% points are given, the customer can earn 3,000 yen in Rakuten points.

The company’s four basic money-saving tips are “No.1 Take advantage of special promotions and services when shopping and traveling,” “No.2 Review fixed costs,” “No.3 Take advantage of multiple points to prepare for the rush of price hikes in the fall,” and “No.4 Save by eating whole foods instead of throwing them away. The company also emphasizes that customers can earn five times more points by combining services such as Rakuten Card, Rakuten Pay, Rakuten Check, and Rakuten Pasha at real stores such as travel destinations.
