The Oedo Konjaku Meguri Production Committee, formed by B-map, Keireisha, and Fuji Television Network, is holding the “Chushingura Stamp Rally” using the old map application “Oedo Konjaku Meguri” (Android/iOS version) until December 14.
This is a free-of-charge stamp rally project based on the theme of “Chushingura,” a major historical event in the Genroku period of the Edo period. The rally will follow the route of the 47 Ronin from Honjo (near present-day Ryogoku, Sumida-ku, Tokyo), where Kira’s residence was located, to Sengakuji Temple, the scene of the Ako Ronin raid. The estimated distance to be covered is about 15 km, and the tour can be completed in a single day or enjoyed as a stroll over two or three days.
During the period, visitors who collect all 20 stamps and go to the B-map head office (2-12-5 Uchikanda, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) will receive an “old map fan” as a commemorative gift. Those who receive a commemorative gift in the order of the 47 Ronin (4th, 7th, 11th, 28th, and 47th) will also receive a Japanese confectionary from Shinshodo, a long-established confectionary shop founded in Taisho’s first year and known for its famous “Seppuku monaka” (Seppuku in Japanese) and other sweets (to be shipped later).
Detailed information on how to participate is available on the official website.
