MAP” provided by Yahoo! MAP has begun offering satellite images taken from a satellite provided by the U.S. space company Maxar Technologies, instead of the aerial photos it had been offering.
The new satellite images are taken from a higher altitude than aerial photographs. The images are taken as the satellite orbits, and are taken at the same frequency throughout the country, making it possible to check more recent images than before. This allows for more recent images to be viewed in rural areas, where the update frequency has been lower than in urban areas.
MAP, tap the Map Style Settings button in the upper right corner after launching the application, and select Aerial Photo from the map type.
