On November 1, Weathernews celebrated the 17th anniversary of the “Weather Report,” an initiative to collect sky photo submissions on the Weathernews app, and will continue to hold the “Charity Weather Report” in 2021, an initiative that allows users to donate points by submitting weather reports. The event will be held in 2021.
Weather Report is Japan’s largest weather community where people post and share photos of the sky and seasons. Users’ contributions are widely used to improve the accuracy of WeatherNews weather forecasts. Users can earn “Thanks Points” by submitting reports and receive a small weather observation device as a gift when they accumulate enough points.
In the Charity Weather Report, Weathernews will donate one yen for every Thanks Point collected through the posting of weather reports and other activities during the seven-day period from November 1 to 7 to forest conservation and disaster area support activities through related organizations.
Users can choose to donate to one of two organizations: the Green Fund for Land Afforestation Promotion Organization or the Disaster Relief Fund (Japanese Red Cross Society). Users’ Thanks Points will not be reduced after the donation.
