Finland gets closer with a completely redesigned Business Class and new Pre-Eco! We’ve seen Finnair’s new cabin!

Posted on 2022-11-02 by Editor in Chief

Finnair plans to refurbish 26 aircraft (18 Airbus A350s and 8 Airbus A330s) by the end of 2023. Haneda passengers will always be able to fly to Helsinki in the upgraded Business Class and Premium Economy.

Finnair launched its Haneda – Helsinki route on October 31. The new route is operated seven times a week on a daily basis with an Airbus A350 aircraft. The aircraft is an Airbus A350, and the cabin was opened to the public prior to the launch of the new service, so we checked out the completely redesigned Business Class and the new Premium Economy Class seats.

All new and improved comfort! Business Class is full of “I want to try it” features!

The fully renewed business class will be introduced in phases on long-haul routes from 2022 to 2023. The flight route from Haneda to Helsinki is approximately 13 hours long due to the avoidance of Russian airspace, but the new seats will support a comfortable flight. The business class cabin has 43 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.

The most important point is the new seats. For the first time, AirLounge seats made by Collins have been adopted, offering passengers a relaxing experience as if they were in their own living room. The distinctive shell design ensures personal space. The line of sight is spacious and you will never feel cramped. Of course, the cushions and pillows are made of Marimekko textiles.

The main feature of the bed is that it can be used as a lay-flat bed without folding down the seat. The duvet and quilt also feature new Marimekko textiles. The spacious area is large enough for an adult to turn over in bed. The shell shape hides the face and provides a perfect eye line protection when sleeping. It also provides a sense of security, as if you are wrapped up in the seat. Of course, each seat has direct access to the aisle.

A custom-designed personal reading light is placed in the shell-shaped backrest area. The light intensity is convenient for working. Storage is provided on the side of the reading light with a collection of pop-up type buttons. By hiding them in one place, the seat design looks more sophisticated. The large screen display for in-flight entertainment is 18 inches and has a touch panel.

A large side table is located on the seat side, making it easier to take a picture for social networking. On the table is a wireless charger, and under the table are various buttons for turning on the lights and other functions. A desk for eating and working on a PC is also stored, and this is the main area for working and eating.

One of the most talked-about elements of Finnair is its amenities. The Marimekko collaboration is ongoing, with a total of eight different designs in the “travel kit” lineup. The purple and dark green base colors, including Maija Isola’s “Joonas” and “Rautasänky,” are eye-catching. The Jacquard weave is durable and can be used after the flight. An eye mask, earplugs, and toothbrush are also included.

The mini pouch contains “La Bruchette” personal care items (lip balm and facial cream). Unused items will be collected and donated to a women’s shelter upon declaration to the flight attendants.

Let’s take a look at the Business Class meals as well. During the flight, dinner will be served with a choice of up to a six-course main course, and a light snack or breakfast. Like the cabins, the meal menus have been redesigned. You will be able to enjoy a variety of fresh, locally sourced and refreshingly prepared dishes. Of course, there will also be a selection of wines to match the meals. The menu is presented on the new Harri Koskinen x Iittala ceramics, specially designed for Finnair, and is nothing short of beautiful.
