Planetarium at Hamagin Children’s Space & Science Museum in Yokohama to be renewed on December 1. New projector reproduces a realistic view of the universe.

Posted on 2022-11-042022-11-04 by Editor in Chief

The Hamagin Children’s Museum of Space and Science (5-2-1 Yokodai, Isogo-ku, Yokohama) will reopen its planetarium on December 1.

The new optical planetarium projector “MEGASTAR-IIA” was introduced, reflecting the latest observation data. The MEGASTAR-IIA uses an ultra-precise stellar baseplate with tiny holes to accurately project all the minute star grains that cannot be discerned by the naked eye as individual stars. This technology makes it possible to reproduce the Milky Way with unprecedented realism and clarity. The powerful images and beautiful stars spread over the entire 23-meter-diameter dome create a realistic experience of the universe.

Admission: Adults 400 yen / Elementary/Junior high school students 200 yen / Preschool children free

Planetarium admission: Adults 600 yen / Elementary/Junior high school students 300 yen / Children 4 and older 300 yen

On November 30, the day before the opening, it will also challenge the Guinness World Record for “most stars projected by a planetarium projector (one off)” (not open to the public).
