Mitsui Fudosan and Mitsui Fudosan Commercial Management will open Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Sakai (22-1 Kuroyama, Mihara-ku, Sakai, Osaka), a large-scale three-story shopping center in Mihara-ku, Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, on November 8.
This will be the 18th facility in Japan and the fourth in the Kansai area, following Lalaport Koshien, Lalaport Izumi, and Lalaport EXPOCITY.
Lalaport Sakai is located in the center of Mihara Ward, Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture. It is adjacent to National Route 309, a major north-south arterial road connecting Osaka, and close to the Mihara Kita Interchange and Mihara Minami Interchange on the Hanwa Expressway, and is expected to attract customers not only from Sakai City, but also from as far away as Nara.
In addition, Lalaport’s first indoor stadium court “Fansta XROSS STADIUM,” which is capable of holding full-scale events, is located in the center of the facility. 212 stores, including 97 stores that opened for the first time in Sakai City (including 33 stores that opened for the first time in Kansai), have opened their doors. Of these, 40% (53) are food-related stores, making it a facility that focuses on “food.
The centerpiece of the facility, the indoor stadium court “Fansta XROSS STADIUM,” which can accommodate approximately 1,400 spectators, is located on the central first floor of the facility, based on the concept of a space for authentic events and play experiences.
The 542-inch (12 x 6.75 m) Main Vision, one of the largest indoor screens in a commercial facility, is particularly eye-catching and can be used for a variety of productions, including powerful live viewing and events. The Ribbon Vision (58.5m in length), installed on the second floor wall as if surrounding the stadium court and seen in recent stadiums, provides a sense of realism similar to that of a real stadium.
Surrounding the “Fansta XROSS STADIUM” are approximately 380 terrace and bench seats. The “Sakai Food Stadium” is also located in the building, where visitors can enjoy eating and drinking while watching events.
The advantage of having an indoor stadium court is that the planned events will not be affected by weather conditions. The aim is to ensure that customers seeking a real Corona Akira experience are attracted from the Corona Disaster nest egg through sporting and entertainment events.
Lalaport targets families. The neighborhood of Mihara-ku, Sakai City, where the facility is located, has a relatively large population of young families and students, and the lineup of 212 stores is designed with young families and students in mind.
In particular, food retailers and restaurants account for 40% of the total, more than in the previous Lalaport complex, with the Sakai Food Stadium on the first floor, where visitors can dine while watching events, Sakai Food Street on the second floor, and the Sakai Food Kitchen on the third floor, which seats over 1,400, the largest in the area. Food Kitchen, one of the largest in the area with over 1,400 seats on the third floor.
In addition to food, there is a wide variety of stores, including an animal café where visitors can enjoy petting animals. Of the 212 stores in total, 33 are opening for the first time in the Kansai region, and 97 stores exhibit brands that are not available at other facilities in Sakai City. Visitors can enjoy a full range of shopping from fashion, interior design, and daily necessities.
The facility is also fully equipped with facilities that take into account the needs of the child-rearing generation and women. Outside is a children’s playground and play zone, MIHARA Park. The “Playport Adventure,” a playground with a dome-shaped playground, slides, and other playground equipment complexes, is installed. There are also facilities for children who are tired of shopping to play.
Other amenities include a restroom that can accommodate baby strollers, a nursing room, and a diaper-changing area, all of which are friendly to families with infants and toddlers. The second and third floors have restrooms with powder rooms for women.
Masakazu Hida, General Manager of Regional Business Department, Commercial Facilities Division, Mitsui Fudosan, gave an overview of the facility at a press conference and preview held prior to the November 8 opening. The southeast area from Lalaport Sakai is a vacant area where no large-scale commercial facilities have opened. We hope to enliven the South Osaka area in cooperation with Lalaport Izumi, which is located to the southwest of Lalaport Sakai.
