Tobu Railway will install the “East TOKYO Festival of Light where tradition and innovation intersect” illumination in the “Asaoshi Area” from Asakusa to Tokyo Skytree Town (Oshiage) in cooperation with Ushijima Shrine and Sumida Ward. The period is from November 10 to February 15, 2023.
In addition to the existing illuminations at Tokyo Skytree Town, Tokyo Mizumachi, and Sumida River Walk, Ushijima Shrine will be decorated with “bamboo lights” using bamboo and full-color floodlights to illuminate the main shrine building. In contrast to the warm gold-based illumination of TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN, the theme of “Intersection of Tradition and Innovation” will be expressed at Ushijima Shrine with a contrasting light.
On December 3 and 4, a workshop for making “bamboo lights” will be held with the cooperation of CHIKAKEN, a comprehensive production group, and Wakayama Farm, a Wakatake forest.
