Flying to Fukuoka on a budget with National Travel Assistance: 16,000 yen discount for 2 nights + 6,000 yen coupon granted for a very satisfying sola trip.

Posted on 2022-11-08 by Editor in Chief

The nationwide travel support program started on October 11. I opened the JAL Web site and thought, “I should get on a helicopter and go somewhere. I clicked on “Airfare + Accommodation” and found the entrance to the “National Travel Support Special Page.

You can select a destination for each prefecture from “Search by Destination,” but you cannot select prefectures that have reached their benefit caps. However, there are some prefectures that have reached the maximum benefit amount but have resumed sales, so it is always worth checking this page. The author selected Fukuoka and proceeded with the procedure.

The price is a mere 27,600 yen for a 3-day/2-night “airfare + accommodations” package. Moreover, if you board the recommended flight, no additional fees are required. I had assumed that the flight would depart in the afternoon and return in the afternoon, but JL305 departing from Haneda at 7:10 a.m. was shown as the recommended flight. It was neither too early nor too late, but just right.

Then what about the return trip? JL322 departing at 16:55 from Fukuoka is shown. This was a quick decision! So I immediately went through the purchase procedures. I was afraid that if I waited too long, I might reach the maximum benefit amount. I will stay at the Fukuoka Washington Hotel in Canal City for two nights.

As stated in the itinerary, the total cost of the trip was originally 43,600 yen, but with the National Travel Support, 16,000 yen is discounted, for a total payment of 27,600 yen. On top of this, upon presentation of proof of three vaccinations (or negative proof) and identification such as a driver’s license at hotel check-in, a regional coupon certificate worth 3,000 yen per day will be handed over. This time, I was handed an old regional coupon coupon because the new regional coupon had already expired, but I was able to use it without any problem (regional coupon for Fukuoka Prefecture).

They can be used not only at restaurants, but also at convenience stores, drugstores, and department stores. This time, I used the regional coupons to purchase souvenirs at a department store. I bought spicy cod roe, bottled food, and sweets. I enjoyed my trip to Sora with a great discount.
