The Imperial Household Agency has informed the public that advance registration is required for the New Year’s General Visit at the Imperial Palace, which will be held for the first time in three years.
The New Year’s General Visit on January 2, 2023, will be held six times a day in the East Garden of the Imperial Palace, accepting about 1,500 visitors for each appearance.
Applications will be accepted online until 23:59 on November 18. Applications by mail (return postcard) must be postmarked by November 18. If there are too many applications, a drawing will be held. Multiple applications, such as those submitted both via the Internet and by mail, will be invalidated.
