KDDI launched “au Visual Guide Real Time,” which adds video call functionality to the “au Visual Guide,” which enables visual commentary through the use of smart glasses and XR technology.
au Visual Guide” is a service that uses smart glasses to provide audio and visual explanations of exhibits instead of audio guides used in museums and art galleries. Since the glasses are superimposed on the scenery, the service is also used at sightseeing spots. Previously, only pre-produced content could be delivered, but the addition of the video call functionality has made real-time communication possible. The same response as that of a local guide can be provided even remotely.
In addition, from November 10 to 23, the company is cooperating with the AR private guide business provided by Zentan Bus, and is conducting a demonstration experiment using this service in the Kinosaki Hot Springs area. Visitors can experience a tour guide who provides video explanations and remote guided tours of 10 locations in the Kinosaki Hot Springs area. The fee for this service is 500 yen per person, and visitors can borrow smart glasses and a smart phone from Kinosaki Tourist Information SOZORO.
