The “JIMOTO Made Tenryu Cedar Cup with Sleeve 237ml” is a set of a sleeve and cup made of Tenryu cedar from Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, which is one of the three most beautiful man-made forests in Japan called “Tenryu Birin” and is considered a source of high-quality wood along with beautiful scenery.

The Tenryu cedar sleeve is made of carefully selected Tenryu cedar and hinoki (Japanese cypress) by Nagata Lumber, a local lumber company that handles Tenryu cedar and hinoki, and processed by hand at ak-design Kuroda Furniture Studio, a custom furniture manufacturer on the shore of Lake Hamana, Hamamatsu, Japan. This sleeve is filled with the passion of Hamamatsu craftsmen.

Tenryu cedar, which grows in Hamamatsu’s favorable climate, grows straight with few root bends, and has a beautiful grain with tight annual rings and a gentle texture. Tenryusugi Sleeve is made from naturally dried Tenryusugi trees that are over 80 years old and carefully milled.

The shape was inspired by the rough waves of the Tenryu River, which is connected to the roots of Hamamatsu’s forestry industry, and the 20-square-pillar sleeves were individually rounded off by hand to create the warmth and feel of the wood when held in the hand, leaving the warm impression of the wood and the beautiful expression of the color and grain of the Tenryu cedar wood. The sleeves are finished in such a way that the beautiful expression of the color and grain of the Tenryu cedar can be enjoyed. The sleeves are also characterized by the fact that they gradually change in texture and color over time as they are used, allowing the user to enjoy the wood’s unique flavor.

The set’s white cups depict the rough waves of the Tenryu River, as well as iconic designs of Starbucks and Hamamatsu-related items, such as the coffee and coffee flowers that symbolize Starbucks, the Japanese bush warbler, which is Hamamatsu’s city bird, and the mandarin orange flower. Furthermore, the names of Starbucks, Nagata Lumber (producer), and Hamamatsu (community) are placed on the bottom of the Tenryu cedar sleeve to express the connection with the region.
