On December 12, Ryuyukan will hold the grand opening of the Kaiyodo Figure Museum Miraiza Osaka Castle on the basement floor of the Miraiza Osaka Castle complex (1-1 Osaka Castle, Chuo-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture), a renovated historical building in front of the Osaka Castle keep.
This museum is dedicated to the figures of KAIYODO, an Osaka-based company that has attracted worldwide attention for its elaborate and dynamic figurative expressions. Based on the concept of “communicating the appeal of Japanese pop culture through figures,” more than 3,000 works of various sizes and genres are on permanent display.
The exhibition area consists of three parts: the “Character Area” featuring Japanese special effects movies, manga, and anime; the “Creatures, History, Culture, and Art Area” dealing with animals, dinosaurs, ukiyoe prints, and Buddhist statues; and the “Planning Exhibition Room” where visitors can enjoy box dioramas and other exhibits designed by Ryuyuukan Director Osamu Miyawaki.
A museum shop is also located in the free admission area, selling over 100 of the latest figures, original goods, and Osaka souvenirs, as well as a capsule figure corner.
Admission is 800 yen for adults (high school students and older) and 400 yen for children (elementary school students and older). Admission is free and includes a figure and a can badge.
