Yama-kei Publishers has released a new book, “Delicious and Loving Downhill Meals in the Kanto Area. The price is 1,100 yen.

The author, Yoshiko Nishino, a mountain climbing guide and freelance writer, introduces “downhill meals” at the foot of mountains, which is one of the pleasures after climbing a mountain. The key points in choosing a meal are “no walking = close to the trailhead, station, or bus stop,” and “no waiting = immediate access.

Introduced are 12 restaurants in the Okutama area, 12 in the area around Takao and Fuji Five Lakes and along the Chuo Line, 10 in the Chichibu and Okumusashi areas, 15 in the Tanzawa, Hakone and Miura Peninsula areas, and 11 in Ibaraki, Chiba, Gunma and Tochigi. From dishes using local ingredients and casual plates in small cafeterias to sweets in cafes, these restaurants are comfortable for mountain climbers.
