On November 17, Navitime Japan began offering “Recommended Routes” in accordance with the search trends of each user on its “Norikae NAVITIME” application.
Transfer NAVITIME’s “recommended routes” usually display routes that are well-balanced in terms of distance, time required, and fare, and are not tailored to users’ preferences or search trends, but rather suggest the same route uniformly, regardless of who searches it.
In reality, each user has different preferences and tendencies, such as prioritizing time and fewer transfers. The new system calculates routes based on each user’s usage of the application and evaluation of routes, and suggests “recommended routes” accordingly when searching for routes.
When performing a transfer search from a departure point to a destination, in addition to the normal search results (up to four results), one or two routes are suggested if applicable, allowing the user to compare and select from a maximum of six routes. No special settings are required for the application, and if a candidate route is available at the time of route search, it will be displayed automatically.
