The first public viewing of Dry Avenue at the Imperial Palace in three years will take place from November 26 to December 4.

Posted on 2022-11-25 by Editor in Chief

The Imperial Household Agency will hold the “2022 Autumn Open House on Dry Street at the Imperial Palace” from November 26 to December 4. Admission is from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (last visitors leave at 3:30 pm).

The public viewing of Inui-dori Avenue was first held in the spring and fall of 2014 (Heisei 26) to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor’s 80th birthday, and has since become a seasonal tradition during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons; it was suspended in 2020 due to the new coronavirus, but is now being held for the first time in three years.

The route for public viewing is to enter from Sakashita Gate, go straight through in front of the Imperial Household Agency building, pass through Inui-dori Street, and exit from Inui-dori Gate. In the past, there was a route that proceeded from the middle of Inui-dori to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, but this time it is not provided. In addition, you cannot enter Inui-dori from the Inui Gate or the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace.

Photography with selfie sticks, tripods, stepladders, etc. is prohibited, and costumes (such as fancy dress) that are not appropriate for public access are not permitted. For more details, please check the website of the Imperial Household Agency.
