Toei Subway to introduce women-only cars on the Oedo Line. Weekday morning rush hours, from January 2023.

The train will operate during weekday morning rush hours in Car 4 of an 8-car train. Stickers will be placed on the windows and platform doors at the stops. The women-only car is also available for elementary school students and younger, physically disabled male passengers, and their caregivers.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Transportation Bureau will introduce women-only cars on the Toei Subway Oedo Line from January 18, 2023.

Operating hours

From Hikarigaoka Station to Roppongi/Daimon: (from Hikarigaoka Station to Roppongi/Daimon)

All trains departing from Hikarigaoka Station between 7:00 and 8:30 a.m.

Departing from Tochomae Station in the direction of Iidabashi/Ryogoku

All trains departing from Tocho-mae Station, platform 2 between 7:15 and 8:10 a.m.

Specific timetables are available on the website and in the timetables at each station.

In mid-January, the Bureau will establish a period to strengthen countermeasures against molestation and other unwanted behavior on the Toei Subway, and will strengthen in-train announcements and security at each station. The station will also conduct educational activities in cooperation with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department.
