JAL Brand Communication will release the “JAL Seat Fabric Shoulder Bag” (16,500 yen), produced in collaboration with JAL Engineering.
As an initiative for a sustainable society, unused seat fabric that was scheduled to be discarded was reused for the bags. The fabric, which was produced by Tatsumura Bijutsu Orimono, a long-established art textile company, for use in aircraft seats, is a valuable material that is no longer used in aircraft currently in operation. The idea to commercialize this fabric came from a mechanic who said, “I want to use airplane parts that would otherwise be thrown away.
It has original embroidery featuring in-flight seat markings and comes with two removable pouches. The design allows the bag to be customized according to the purpose of use, from everyday use to travel.
The product will be available at the JAL Brand Communication Store from 10:00 a.m. on November 30.
